  1. Choose appropriate horsepower & size from the starter selection chart to get the starter part number.
  2. Based on the current of the motor, choose the overload relay. Use the chart below if you do not know your actual current.
  3. The contactor runs off of 120V by default. If you do not have a 120V circuit, choose a control transformer based on whatever voltage your motor is down to 120V. If you do have 120V available, you don’t need this part. (24V control voltage is an option but starter # changes, call factory)
  4. Determine how the motor is going to start and stop. If it’s being automatically controlled by something external sending the start and stop signals you do not need an operator interface. If it is going to be manually turned on and off you can choose from the operator interface options. Usually start/stop push buttons are the most common, followed by the two position selector (they both do the same job. It is just preference). The hand/off/auto are for when you are using automatic control but also need an override to turn the starter on locally.
