Avoiding Hardware Problems on your Curtain System

Frayed cables on a curtain system with a long, untrimmed end piece

The one hardware component that is the most common on all sidewall curtain systems are cables. These are essential to the proper up and down operation of your curtain system.

Most systems are designed with stainless steel cables to avoid corrosion, but you also need to be mindful of any fraying that may occur as these are braided cables with small strands of steel.

Another common issue with cables is what is referred to as “pig tails”. These are the ends of the cable after it has been attached to your curtain hardware with a cable clamp. If these ends are left too long, they can catch in the openings of your bird screen, potentially damaging the screen or causing the curtain to hang up, which may lead to additional hardware damage.

Make sure that the ends are kept short and taped back to the main cable which will help avoid this problem. It is one of those small things that can cause big problems.
